Hey guys. I know that this journal is long overdue. Shit on my end has been pretty bumpy recently, and so its been hard to keep up here on dA. Hopefully within the next couple weeks, things will have smoothed out and ill be able to get back on here, post some new stuff, and reply to all the wonderful comments. But ive said that before, so dont hold your breath. If you really need to get a hold of me, note me, or find search for me on facebook (Austin Pickrell). In good news though, the great `Hameed just gave me a 12 month sub, and i cannot express how grateful I am. I mean, how fucking awesome is that? Answer: REALLY fucking awesome.

So yea, school is over for the summer and im not moving back home for a couple weeks, so i have A LOT of free time. so i decided to learn flash. if you guys have and tips, awesome tutorials, some action script presents, anything, i would appreciate it. assume i have never even opened flash in my life (which is almost true)

!!!! Thank you all so much on my second DD on !! Any DD is a great honor, but this one has a lot more meaning to me. Not only is it my first DD on a piece of my true art, but of all pieces, its on this one. AS said in the artists comments, this piece holds a HUGE meaning to me. God works in mysterious ways. And it has been a rough couple weeks, so this was just what i needed to help me stay on my feet. The feedback that ive gotten on this piece has been really fucking great, so many nice people saying nice things. So truly, thank you all so much. I have 1,353 mesages to go through right now, so it will be a while before i get to everyone.


Because of this awesome honor, I also decided to redo my journal. Now with 2 DD's and the 25k mark right around the corner, i thought it was an appropriate time. so thanks again to ~W00d5t0ck for the same code that im just ripping to pieces


Things are still extremely busy on my end, with finals in less than a week and two moves within the next couple of months, so ill still be kinda slow. Attrius is taking a break until at least summer to give us all a chance to focus on school and such, and no super big projects (other than some collabs) on the horizon right now. But hold tight, soon ill be back with a vengeance.

This spotlight goes out to my good friend Chris, or =ChrisCold as we all know him. Chris is fairly new to the scene, and has already made quite an impressive name for himself, as well as some porn. His tablet painting style is absolutely awesome, especially the fact that he doesnt have a tablet but a $5 mouse (we all wish you luck in moving up to $10). Not only does his push the limits of space art, but he is an awesome guy. Always there to help younger artists, give critique to anyone, and brighten up even the most boring of days in the space chatroom. Im sure all of you already know him, but if you dont, please go die (or rape him with love ). His gallery is one you do not want to miss, so go throw him a watch.

O, and by the way, we are about to rape your minds with utter awesomeness in our upcoming collab.






This is a special feature, two newer artists who deserve far more attention than they are getting. I have not worked with either, but have browsed their gallerys very thoroughly and enjoyed every minute of it. My friends I have news. Again, life has decided there is no rest for me. Shit really hit the fan....again. But this time may be different, instead of driving me into the ground like over the summer, this may be my way out. My escape. My dream. There are big things in the works, things that require much attention and hard work. I have reached a point where life has to take priority, and so I will not be as active as usual. I have already stepped down from Space Age, and may be forced to take other steps to lighten my load as well. I will finish the collabs and requests I have right now, but unfortunately will not be looking for more until things calm down. Ill still be here often, checking my inbox a few times a day, but no big projects (other than the upcoming attrius and UA packs, which im almost done with anyway ) But here is a brand new feature, so enjoy it, and wish me luck on codename: "Roadtrip"

Yea. Im going there. Priteeboy is a bad ass mother fucker. Although I haven't worked with him ona ny collabs, I have followed his art for a LONG TIME. When I was just starting space art, I ran into his gallery and fell in love. For obvious reasons. I then had the honor of working with him on the last Attrius pack and now have the honor of working with him on the upcoming one as well. Not only is he a damn amazing artist, but a great guy. Every comment he leaves has depth and honesty, he takes the time to really look at the art, instead of bullshit like "OMFG U ROK I WANT U N ME NOW SO GOOD LURVE IT ORGAZM." I have the next week off of classes for thanksgiving which is super cool, but im headed back home so i dont know if it will mean more time for dA or less. time will tell. So my good buddy has started a really cool project to help out more inexperienced graphic designers. Its a really great program, so head over there and check it out, learn something new, or lend a hand in teaching someone else something new.

The tutorial
This is your chance to become a part of the largest collection of fresh and awesome tutorials on deviantart. The collection will contain tutorials that have not been published yet, and that cover a wide area of arts. I want you to join this project if you think you can contribute with some good stuff.

Organization
The tutorial will be organized in a very interactive flash, sort of like the grand planet tutorial only the users will be able to view multiple tutorials at once, and to move them around as they see fit within the flashfile.

There will be 8 or so categories, and each category will have 2-3 different tutorials. These tutorials will be picked from the submissions to ensure quality.

dA
The dA section of the archive will include tutorials on dA. How to get around, tips and tricks and so on. This will be the smallest part of the archive.

This section will include tutorials on using photoshop, getting specific effects and so on.

Flash
How to work with, get specific effects and so on...

Photography
How to work the camera, using different shutterspeeds, aperture and so on...

Drawing
digital or traditional, airbrush or pretty much anything like it; anatomy studies, how to draw this and that...

Literature
How to write wide range of prose, like short stories and so on. Includes specifics on plotbuilding and such techniques.

3D
How to use 3d applications and how to create specific objects.

Graphic Design
How to create good design, like posters, webdesign and so on...

Color theory
How to work with color

Typography
How to get specific effects, different tools in typography and so on...

Space/Sci-fi
How to create space scenes, like planets, starfields, meteorites and so on


Whats in it for you?
Lots and lots of credits, and knowing that you have contributed to the dA community i a huge collaborative effort.

Where do I submit?
all submissions should be sent to either a note to ~Crosseout, or crosseout@hotmail.com

What do I submit?
The text should be in a document like word, or notepad. No more than 4 images including a final image. Your tutorial cannot be sumbitted to deviantArt before the collaboration is published.

Whats the chance my tutorial will be published in this archive?
Depends on the popularity of the section, but pretty much pretty high as long as it shows some effort and a fairly good quality.

Whats the duedate?
30. January 2009
The collab will then be published about the 15. of february 2009. <<<<<my birthday!! ya!

Now that we are in ~TerraSpace together working on a collab for the next pack, it is really an honor knowing and working with him.

Hey guys. So as some of you may know its been a crazy couple of weeks and i haven't been on as much as i should. But things are starting to calm down a bit and within the next few days i will be back in action at full capacity. So thank you to all those favs i haven't been able to thank, you guys rock.

The new Attrius pack is out and it is damn sexy. Its small, but all of the entries are really awesome. Also, Attrius is going to be doing some really cool new stuff here soon. Cant tell you details but get over there and give us a watch. You wont regret it.
